The Rio Grande Basin Initiative project is the first recipient of the NIFA Outstanding Integrated Program Water Resources Team Award. The project addresses water management throughout the Rio Grande Basin , bringing together research, extension, and education efforts to address local, state, regional, national, and international water concerns. Improved precision irrigation techniques and scheduling, developed and extended through this integrated project, have conserved more than 200,000 acre-feet of water per year.
