Farmers Head to Washington, D.C., to Defend Ethanol at EPA Hearing

WASHINGTON (Dec. 4, 2013) – The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s proposal to cut the amount of corn ethanol required under the 2014 Renewable Fuel Standard by 10 percent will affect corn prices and rural economies, farmers plan to tell the agency at a hearing set for Thursday, Dec. 5 outside the nation’s capital.

Safety Precautions

Whenever possible, don't enter a grain bin. If you must enter the bin, as a farm owner/operator you should:

Break up crusted grain from the outside of the bin with a long pole. When using a pole, check to see that it doesn't come into contact with electric lines.
Wear a harness attached to a properly secured rope.
